The recent destruction caused by Super-Storm Sandy is an obvious reminder to every homeowner and business owner that natural disasters strike everywhere in the US. In California, we know all about earthquakes, wildfires and intense winter storms. The question today is what can you do to prepare for a natural disaster that disrupts the supply of electricity to your home or business?
The best answer is permanently installed automatic standby generators. These super-reliable systems are fueled with propane and will keep your electricity supply constant for days or even weeks when your local power company is offline. We're working with the experts at Quality Home Services so you can get a system installed by people we know to be honest, capable and trustworthy.
Think about it - bad winter storms block the roads, falling trees take out the electricity and the only thing you can rely on is the fuel in your propane tank. With a permanently installed standby power generator you could barely notice the problem.
We can arrange a FREE, in-home survey and no-obligation quote for the installation of your standby power system. Don't wait until you have no power - let us solve your problem before it becomes your catastrophe.
Please give us a call for more information - this is a great way to get peace-of-mind when you know the winter storms are coming soon!

Propane gas is a versatile fuel that offers a clean-burning alternative to electricity, oil, and natural gas. Propane appliances should be inspected and maintained on a regular basis, and all propane storage tanks require respect and care.
-
Propane gas is flammable. This may seem obvious, but it's important to respect propane and its properties. Whenever you're near a propane storage tank or propane-burning appliance, avoid outside flames and sparks. Don't smoke around these appliances, and if you notice the scent of gas (artificially augmented to smell similar to rotten eggs), turn off all flames and leave the area immediately. Turn off the gas if possible, and contact your propane gas service. At Kamps, we offer 24-hour emergency service for our customers.
-
Have your propane-burning appliances inspected regularly. Pilot lights and burners, such as those found in water heaters and furnaces, should be inspected by a professional on at least an annual basis. Burners that are poorly maintained may not burn cleanly, producing carbon monoxide gas. It's a good idea to invest in both a propane gas and carbon monoxide sensor for your home. Kamps customers can call us to schedule a free inspection of their propane appliances and we sell top-quality propane-fueled appliance – call us for details.

Don't run out of gas. Kamps offers the SMART system – it’s the reliable way to keep an eye on your fuel level and it allows us to know when you are ready for a delivery. Running out of propane is a serious problem and our SMART system is the easy way to keep your propane tank from running dry. Contact us to learn more about the SMART system!

Early fall is an exciting time in American homes. As the leaves change and football season begins, so does another cherished American tradition, the barbecue. The autumn months are the perfect time of year to fire up the propane grill and try some new recipes.
The Perfect Burger: This grilled burger recipe is simple and comes courtesy of Food Network star and iconic American chef Bobby Flay.
-
Ingredients: 1 ½ pounds ground beef (80 percent lean), salt and black pepper, 1 ½ tablespoons canola oil, 4 slices of cheese, 4 hamburger buns.
-
Directions: Form meat into ¾ inch patties (four) and make a deep impression in each burger with your thumb. Season both sides of each hamburger with salt and pepper. Heat gas grill to high and brush each patty with oil. Grill burgers until golden brown (about 3 minutes) on one side and flip burgers. Cook for an additional 3 minutes, add cheese, and grill for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Grilled Salmon with Mustard and Herbs: Seafood can taste great off the grill as well. This healthy and delicious salmon recipe comes from EatingWell.com
-
Ingredients: 2 lemons, 25 sprig mixed fresh herbs, 1 garlic clove, ¼ tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard, 1 pound center cut salmon (skinned).
-
Directions: Preheat gas grill to medium-high. Place foil on a baking sheet and arrange lemon slices in two layers. Spread herb sprigs over the lemons. In a small dish, combine mustard, garlic, salt and the remaining herbs. Spread the mixture over both sides of the salmon. Place the salmon on the herb sprigs and lemon slices. Slide the foil and salmon off the baking sheet onto the grill. Cover grill and cook salmon for 18 to 24 minutes. Transfer foil and salmon back onto the baking sheet. Cut the salmon into desired portions and serve.
